We have just returned from a lovely week in Portugal, sunshine, sea, amazing food (and drink!) and some quality family time. Thank you all so much for your flying tips, I am v pleased to say that Lily was a total star on the flight. I think the fact that she was a year older, the bag of wrapped presents (aka colouring book, new pad, crayons, stickers and play doh) I had prepared for her, the iPad(!) she watched Justin’s House on, the fact that we had talked about it a lot in advance all really helped. She amazed me by happily getting up at 3am and in spite of being incredibly tired being chirpy throughout and singing loudly on the plane (which I think she gets from her grandad). I don’t know how well she would have coped with a longer flight though as on the way home she was on the edge of a meltdown but luckily we managed to avoid it.
Holidays are so important for me, especially as I work from home. Being off at home is not the same and I wouldn’t be able to switch off, although my husband would happily have a week off at home doing nothing! Also, I need some sunshine! I always find after a week of quality time with the children, they have come on so much, new words, skills, confidence from meeting new people and doing new things.
Holiday time is also great for thinking about “stuff” whether it be life in general or business. Sometimes there is so much going on in everyday life that you need a bit of down time to think. It was on a previous holiday that I came up with the idea for a multi tog baby sleeping bag and this time I was able to test out a prototype for a new product I’m working on which I am happy to say did a great job and I am v excited about. 🙂
I am so pleased to have come back to sunshine though. I don’t think I would be feeling so good if it was grey and miserable here.
Do you have any holiday plans or have you been recently? I’d love to hear about them. x
