Well my little business is 5 years old on 1st November. I’m not really sure how this has happened or where the last five years have gone but what I do know is that I wouldn’t change a thing. I have laughed, I have celebrated, I have cried, I have stressed, I have worried but I have learnt so much and I wouldn’t change any of it. Through my business I have made some fantastic friends in this industry who I’m sure will be friends for life. I have met some amazing bloggers with incredible stories. I have had another baby (who is not a baby anymore!) It has been a rollercoaster (and I don’t like rollercoasters!!)
It was 5 years ago that I launched Mamascarf following an idea for a discreet breastfeeding cover that I had had when breastfeeding my baby Sam. I was always really self conscious breastfeeding in public and when I looked for something that was more secure than using a muslin or a scarf, I couldn’t find one. I started to think whether I could do something to create one. I started out with a website and 50 Mamascarves that I had had made up. Five years on and I’m selling to major retailers and across the world. I now have a range of award winning products, all inspired by my (not so little) babies. I have been on TV, in magazines, in the newspaper and on the radio. I love what I do. It is the best feeling knowing that something that I have created is used by mums (and dads) on their precious little babies and might help to make their lives easier.
Five years ago I had a one year old, was working full time and working on the business in the evenings. I was exhausted, I was sad (leaving my baby every day) and I hated my job. I am so glad that I gave it a go and blew my redundancy money on a dream.
ps. we have a fab 5th birthday competition launching soon. Watch this space!
