I used the Positive Birth Company digital pack, the book and the app. My partner read the book (as did I) “Practical Ways to Make Your Birth Better” (he is more of a reader) and I bought the Freya app which I used from about 30 weeks pregnant for relaxation and then during birth to time my contractions or surges.
I was gifted the digital pack and book, with absolutely no obligation to share or write this. This is my choice to share as I think it is a fantastic product at an amazing price and I continue to tell every pregnant person I come across! Hypnobirthing is amazing and this is the best way to access it.
This was my third pregnancy so I knew what to expect… to a point. I also knew that every birth is different.
I have vaguely practiced hynobirthing with my second baby, as I had been given a relaxation recording that I listened to in the last month or so of my pregnancy but I did not know any of the science or detail behind it.
Siobhan’s course blew me away. I had not been prepared for all of the science or for it to make so much sense, which it did. The course is easy to follow and I went through the course bit by bit, some on my laptop, some on my phone. You can refer back to bits… or in my case could share certain bits with my partner. It is all bite size chunks that make it easy to consume.
He chose to read the book rather than watch the videos, just his personal preference. He certainly retained a lot of info… took notes (bless him) and I could not have asked for a better birth partner. It was his first time as Daisy has a different dad to her big brother and sister.
If you need any introduction or want to try before you buy, Siobhan has lots of free hypnobirthing content on YouTube too, but the course / digital pack really is a great price as she wanted to make it affordable to everyone.
After a long week of stop starting contractions, I had the most wonderful home birth with the fabulous team from Birmingham Women’s hospital. Within half an hour of having Daisy I was sat cuddling her eating cake on the sofa!
I used the Freya app to time my surges. Listening to the relaxation audios in between. It was easy to use, it helped me feel in control and not having to worry about timings.
I breathed through it and I knew my body knew what to do. I want to add that you might think that a homebirth is not for you (this was my first and at first I wondered if it was too). You might think that hypnobirthing is only for home births, but that really isn’t the case. Hypnobirthing is truly amazing, it is for all births, it is for all birthing people. Some of the stuff I learnt I still use (breathing techniques) using my B.R.A.I.N to make decisions. (weighing up the Benefits, risks, alternatives, implications, nothing).
You can find out more about The Positive Birth Company here. If you are interested in a home birth, I would recommend asking your midwife. I was referred to the HomeBirth team from 20 weeks with no obligation if i changed my mind at any time.
